Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh – place where traditions meet
Michelle is from Hong Kong and Duncan is from Edinburgh. They were looking for a stunning venue that would accommodate their needs and agree with their traditions. The Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh was just a perfect place for them. Stunning, historic walls and traditional décor, plenty of room for getting ready and holding different parts of their wedding. They were hoping to have a mixture of Chinese and Scottish traditions during the day. It was important for them and their families to have a Chinese tea ceremony in the morning, followed by the legal wedding ceremony and breakfast, and then the reception. They also planned a special performance at the reception and they had to made sure that this unique, centrally located venue ticked all the boxes.
It all starts with the engagement session
Michelle and Duncan met me during the Corn Exchange wedding exhibition. The competition at the wedding exhibition is always on a high level and I was honoured to see this lovely couple coming back to me. We hit off immediately and started to plan the wedding day and their pre-wedding session. For the photo-shoot they chose one of the most popular spots of Edinburgh – Holyrood Park and Arthur’s Seat. We were lucky to have a lovely evening and we all enjoyed that little climb towards the ruins of St. Anthony’s Chapel. Michelle was wearing her traditional Chinese gown, while Duncan was rocking his kilt. It was great to hear later on that they chose some of the engagement session’s photographs for their wedding invitations. They also created a beautiful album to show the photographs to their wedding guests.
Just a perfect wedding day at the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh
From the intimate Chinese Tea Ceremony in the morning, receiving blessings and gifts from their parents and God Parents to the relaxed wedding reception and party in the evening, the day was just perfect. The warm, soft light of the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh, the exquisite interior and the thousands of daises in the Queen’s Street Gardens completed the dreamy look of their day. Not to mention the impressive Lion Dance as a surprise form the couple to their guests. Absolute magic with Michelle and Duncan!
