City Chambers Edinburgh Elopement
To Elope in Edinburgh is like to fall in love again and again
Michelle and Steven planned this day many a times. They have been together for long years, have a son and pup. I was to photograph their wedding years ago, but the stars wrote a different scenario for them.
Many ups and down and they finally decided to tie the knot in the presence of just two witnesses and their son Luca. I had an immense pleasure to meet this young man when he was just one and a bit and photographed him during our lifestyle family session with mum Michelle and granny Janis at the ever so stunning autumnal Dalkieth Country Park.
Get the kids involved!
When I saw the eight years old Luca I couldn’t believe how grown up and responsible he was. In charge of the rings and helping his dad on the morning of the wedding was a huge task. He did all of it with a smile and the utmost pride! But seeing his mum when she finally got to the City Chambers of Edinburgh was the most emotional point for all of us. It all seemed like a split of a second, but I think Michelle can still feel the emotions just looking back at the photographs just now. Luca was the proudest and the happiest page boy / groomsman in the whole wide world! He definitely stole the show for his mum and dad at least a tiny bit!
Sanitisers, masks and other Covid19 restrictions
Michelle and Steve got married two days before Christmas. Edinburgh was quiet this year due to coronavirus pandemic. Royal Mile was empty, but the Christmas lights were there. No tourists, no rush, no usual business, but some Christmas magic was certainly there. It felt like we had the town for ourselves. A quiet Wednesday morning, crispy and cold, but dry and sunny. It was just the five of them, but the Covid19 still restricted all of us from having a proper cuddle or a handshake. We wore masks, sanitised our hands on the entry to the venue and kept the required distance. The couple was allowed to stay without the masks for the duration of the ceremony and had a gentle music on the arrival of the bride. It was simple, intimate and beautiful.
They are husband and wife!
After the ceremony we headed for some formal photographs. City Chambers and its courtyard was a must. We then went for a short walk on Royal Mile and around the Parliament Square. St Giles’ Cathedral added to the most dramatic backgrounds of Edinburgh and we included this stunning building in our photo session.
Short, intimate and beautiful elopement
It was a short, intimate and beautiful morning. Michelle and Steve eloped in the presence of just two witnesses and their son. Their closest family and friends found out a few hours later. I had a huge privilege to be there for them and to be able to capture their special morning. Have a look at this short photography reportage for yourself.
