Two of everything…
Two pairs of white shoes, two bouquets, two sets of jewellery and two stunning wedding dresses. Two beautiful brides, two personalities, hundreds of smiles and hugs, first kiss and one love! They chose one of the most breath-taking venues in Edinburgh. The SkyBar at the top floor of DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre was overlooking the proud and world famous Edinburgh Castle.
Blackford Hill engagement session
I met Megan and Lisa at the Edinburgh Wedding Exhibition long time before their wedding. This lovely couple enquired about our All Inclusive package with two photographers, three albums, extra prints and an engagement session.
Our first meeting and pre-wedding session was scheduled for the spring, just a few months before their special day. The lovely brides to be chose the picturesque Blackford Hill near the Royal Observatory of Edinburgh for their shoot. Fortunate for the beautifully setting sun and dreamy evening, we had a long walk and a good chat about them and their big day.
Sunshine in Leith and very chilled bridal preparations
The morning of the wedding was just perfect. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, roads were quiet and everything seemed so relaxed and positive. The brides were getting ready separately. Lisa had her morning preparation at their own flat. Megan decided to spend the morning in her parents’ house. It all happened in the uniquely beautiful Leith. We had two photographers capturing the day. While Alex was busy creating the most intimate and candid photographs of Lisa’s morning, I was with Megan and her troops. They didn’t see each other that morning, even though there were so close. No rush, no hassle, quiet music, great breakfast, a very chilled morning, a perfect way of having memorable bridal preparations. Even the cat was chilled, entrusting me with Megan’s bridal details and posing for photographs.
DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh Wedding
Arriving at the venue, we noticed guests started to gather outside. Some were already at the SkyBar enjoying a drink and admiring the breath-taking views. The brides arrived separately and didn’t see each other before the ceremony. Both walked down the aisle with their dads, Megan first then Lisa. Warmly welcomed by their guests and the wedding celebrant, they couldn’t stop smiling. The room was decorated in the most magical way with cherry blossoms and hundreds of flowers. The talented Beautifully Covered made the Skybar ceremony room look absolutely dreamy.
The beauty of Edinburgh and colours of the Fringe Festival
One of the advantages of getting married at the DoubleTree by Hilton City Centre is that it is very close to the best beauty spots of Edinburgh. After the short and emotional ceremony we headed to Princes Street Gardens. The Ross Fountain and Castle Rock were a must in our photographs. Enjoying the sunshine, vibrant colours of the Fringe festival we decided to go to the second spot – The Grassmarket. Granny’s Steps and the Edinburgh Castle plus the cheering crowds became a wonderful part of our formal wedding photographs.
It was an absolute pleasure photographing Megan and Lisa’s wedding. The whole day was just magnificent. From the smallest wedding details to the huge wedding reception in the evening. The sun set was exquisite. The room started to flood in all shades of gold. The castle was looking proudly, happy to witness the beautiful love, friendship and commitment of Megan and Lisa.
