Christmas Winter Wedding Edinburgh
Christmas Winter Wedding in Edinburgh – a dream come true
Andrew proposed to Lauren at the lovely Dalmahoy Hotel Edinburgh last year, just before Christmas. They fell in love with the Christmassy Edinburgh and soon started to plan their wedding in this magical place. Christmas Edinburgh was a bit different last year: buzzing, colourful, filled with the German Market’s aromatic scents of gingerbread, mulled wine and smoked sausages. This year, Covid-19 made Edinburgh a bit of an eerie, deserted place, still, the charm and magic was there.
Micro wedding – intimate, emotional and thoughtful
They came all the way from Northern Ireland and brought their nearest and dearest with them. The wedding ceremony was held at St Mary’s Church, situated in the grounds of the Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club. It was beautiful, intimate and emotional. The historic place was decorated for this special occasion and its Christmas trees added a special magic to the atmosphere. Despite the bitter cold outside, the church was warm and cosy. The Minister Christine Downey and her lovely team had everything well organised and made sure everyone felt welcome.
Wedding photographs in the centre of Edinburgh
After a quick toast, some delicious canapes and cupcakes we headed to the centre of Edinburgh. Ross Fountain, Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh Castle, The Dome, beautifully decorated George Street and Victoria Street made some dream locations for our photographs. The town was just ours, but the few passers by didn’t miss a chance to shout ‘Congratulations!’ to our newlyweds from a distance.
Informal wedding finished with a sparkle
We ended our formal photographs with a huge material and numb fingers. The guests were awaiting, relaxing and sipping champagne. The newlyweds didn’t plan any formal speeches, but they showed up with a large bag of thoughtful gifts. The groom said a few words of thanks, expressed his gratitude to all and handed out thoughtful gifts. This was followed by a lovely meal and some more evening photographs. The last set was taken outside of the hotel with a bunch of sparklers happily waved by the wedding guests.
An amazing day!
Andy and Lauren said they had an amazing day, there was just this one thing missing…. a bit of snow would make it all perfect. Guess what… it started to snow that night! I suppose dreams do come true and perfect wedding exists, no matter of the number of guests.
