This wonderful couple, with Matt from England and Holly originally from Scotland, chose Edinburgh for its historic charm and relaxed atmosphere. On a perfect summer day, they exchanged vows at St Mary’s Cathedral, then celebrated their Prestonfield House Edinburgh wedding with their cherished guests. The whole day was filled with love, laughter, sunshine, and unforgettable moments.
Elegant Ceremony at St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh
Holly’s wedding day began with preparations at the iconic Prestonfield House Hotel, a venue that embodies timeless elegance. The grand interiors and lush gardens provided the perfect setting for a relaxed morning filled with excitement, heartfelt moments, and the final touches before the big “I do.”
The bridal preparations were all about friendship and love. Holly’s favourite people, old and new friends, all cherished and equally important. The room was buzzing, the sun filled the gaps, the champagne was flowing, and the chatter and smiles never stopped. The girls had their hair and makeup done, slipped into their perfectly finished hunter green silk dresses, helping one another. Cheering, clapping, and supporting Holly. It was all about her today.
Here comes the Dad
The moment he sees her. It may be just a split second, but it’s so important. The first look with Dad was unposed and unscheduled. Holly wanted the day to be documented as it unfolded. And it was.
The Father of the Bride arrived earlier that day, enjoying a glass of champagne with the bride’s squad while Holly was putting on her dress next door. When she was ready, she simply walked in, unannounced and nonchalant. As she does.
I caught Dad’s look. Tears filled his eyes. How happy and proud he was. Dads, the legends.

Of course, we don’t forget about mums. Holly’s mum was by her side the entire time, helping, supporting, and lending a hand with the dress and jewellery, just being there for her. She was quiet, yet her love for Holly was visibly overflowing, not just on the wedding day, but every day before and after. Mums, true icons.
Their ceremony took place at the magnificent St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh, a location that never fails to impress with its towering architecture and sacred beauty. The sunlight streamed through the stained-glass windows as Holly walked down the aisle, creating a magical scene. Their vows were heartfelt, their smiles radiant, and the entire ceremony felt like something out of a fairytale.

Following the ceremony, guests returned to Prestonfield House Stables, where a sun-drenched drinks reception awaited. It was one of those rare scorching June days in Scotland, making the outdoor celebrations all the more special. Laughter, champagne, and the buzz of excitement filled the air as guests mingled under the summer sky.
Adding to the joy of the day, a talented magician kept everyone entertained. His extraordinary tricks left guests in awe. As the evening progressed, the celebrations moved indoors. At The Stables, a fantastic wedding band and lively dancing kept the energy high. The grand yet intimate atmosphere of Prestonfield House Stables provided the perfect setting for a wedding that was both elegant and full of warmth.
